Week #36 - Sales, Promotions & Free Sandwiches!

Here is my customized Subway Card. I cut out the details about what you can get free for each point and taped it to the front of the card so I never forget!

Hmm.... what to say what to say....  Lets see... I don't have all that much to talk about this week, but I do wanna give you a little tip if you go to Subway. Subway has a point system where you earn points for each thing you buy 1 point per dollar spent and you can use the points to get free stuff. 75 points gets you a free 12" sandwich, 50 points gets you a free 6" sandwich, 20 gets you a drink, 15 gets a bag of chips and 10 gets a free cookie. So... Subway is currently having a promotion where if you get a new card, use it once to earn points and then register it online you get 20 bonus points for free. So what I did was I took 3 new cards which I will use once each then register online to get the free bonus points. Then I'll take each of the 3 new cards to a subway and have them combine all the points on to one card. So basically for doing a few minutes of work to enter my info online I'll get enough free points to get a free sandwich! Can't go wrong with that if you're going to go to Subway anyway!!

I know I've mentioned this place before (once just 2 weeks ago) but www.RubberChickenComics.com in Bellingham, MA is having a HUGE sale this Saturday (tomorrow) and Sunday. Its 25% off everything in the store plus bigger savings on specific items. Also from 9:00-1:00 on Saturday there is a buy one get one free on all graphic novels!! How can you beat that?? YOU CAN'T!!! So head to Rubber Chicken Saturday morning and then go to the Subway next door for lunch and start earning points towards free sandwiches!!

Uhm.... this past weekend I spent a lot of time driving. On Saturday I went to the Woodstock Fair in Woodstock, CT, but that only resulted in spending some money. On Sunday I drove 200 miles round trip to Hartford, CT to see my friends in Slapshot play as well as meet up with some other friends. It was along drive, but I was able to get into the show for free and since I helped out another friend selling his stuff at the show I got a few records for free which is always nice. This little story can be classified in the 'its good to have low friends in high places' category like I mentioned in last weeks blog.

I know this is kinda short, but I think that's all I have to say this week so lets talk about some money! This week I got a paycheck for $613.83 and had $39.12 go into my 401K. This is the first check of September so I will be putting the entire check into my regular checking account to pay my credit card and other things for the month. I did my standard $20 vacation transfer and I also returned some bottles and cans and added $10.10 to the piggy bank... not a bad week! Here is the wrap up...

For this weeks bonus I'm going to give you some info on a new item that is being offered by www.NewRepublicPrinting.com. I want to tell you because I feel like its a great item that maybe you can use to promote your store, band or other interest, BUT I also think its a great way that you could make some cash.

New Republic just started making these really cool 2.25" round key chain bottle openers that can be customized with any full color logo. If you own a bar, tattoo shop or are in a band these would be awesome promo items! The minimum order is 50 pieces, but they are only $1 each with your full color logo right on the front!! Now you can you make money off this? Well you could buy them for $1 with your logo and then sell them for $2-$3, but if you don't have anything to promote then you could go around to businesses in your area and and sell them on these awesome bottle openers. Tell them if they order 50 pieces you can get them for $1.25 each and then you make $12.50 just for placing the order for them. Do that at a few different locations and you could make some awesome extra cash! New Republic also does Shirts, Sweatshirts, Jackets, Patches, Stickers, Pins and a bunch of other stuff so check out the website and see if they can print for you or if you can maybe make some cash working as a quasi-sales rep!
